Transit Mall Panoramas
For twenty years of my working life, I worked in three different downtown Portland offices. I often took the bus to and from work which readily allowed me time and opportunity for these photos. They were all taken with a Widelux f7 135MM film camera which is a swing lens camera design where the lens transits from one side to the other of its recordable 140º arc. Its slowest shutter speed is a 1/15 of a second, but it takes almost three seconds for it to make that exposure. My efforts were around gently tilting the camera up and down for some of that time to get the sweep of a passing bus and holding it still as the lens aligned with critical human subject matter. It was a bit hit and miss, but wonderfully rewarding if intentions were met or if something equally wonderfully unexpected was produced.
